Not a hotel, but the City Hall and Mayoral seat of Paris. Situated on the Place de l’Hotel de Ville this is a magnificent example of French architecture.
After a fire in 1870 only the shell of the building remained. So the exterior is 16th century renaissance, but the interior is late 19th century.
The Hotel de Ville Paris is not a tourist attraction as such, but you can walk into the foyer (free entry) and admire the exhibitions showing the history of Paris. Tours are available of the Hotel de Ville Paris, in French, free of charge, but you need to book in advance, for details go to www.paris.fr/portail/culture/portal.lut
