Eurostar train channel tunnel crossing and arrival in Paris

January 5th, 2009 by paris

Eurostar has so far been very punctual and leaves on time and arrives in Paris on or before scheduled time. First leg of the journey is to reach the channel tunnel, passing the English country side. This is the slowest part of the journey. You will be informed through the train announcement system before you enter the tunnel. Once you are in the chunnel tunnel you can get some rest and be refreshed to see France (Calais) as soon as leaving the tunnel at the other end. The transit time inside the tunnel is 20 minutes.

Arrival in Paris

After about 2 hours and 15 minutes the Eurostar train will reach the terminus, Gare du Nord in Paris (Gare = station, Nord = North). As with any large terminus Gare du Nord is located on a not so appealing neighborhood. Once leaving the train there won’t be any immigration checks. There is a taxi stand located at the outside of the terminal. Bus stand and the train stations (Metro and RER) are also very conveniently located. For smokers there is a Tabac (only place where they sell tobacco products in most of the European countries - except in the UK) located near the exit to buy tobacco products as Cigarettes, cigars etc. If you are feeling hungry after the train journey you can try a sandwich at one of the cafes located inside the terminal, however prices tend to be higher.
