How to get to the Eiffel Tower?

Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord. You can take a taxi or a number 42 bus to the Eiffel Tower Paris. At the tower, buy tickets as you board an L’Open tour bus which you can use to tour the city, see the tower, and return to the Gare du Nord.

What is the best time to visit?
The Eiffel Tower Paris opens at 9:30 a.m. and at 9:00 a.m. in the summer. To avoid long queues, arrive at the ticket booth at least 30 minutes before the tower opens. After 8:00 p.m., queues are also shorter and there is the added benefit of experiencing the beauty and atmosphere of the tower when it is illuminated.

How much does it cost?
It costs

  1. 13 Euros to take the elevator to the top;
  2. 8 Euros to the 2nd floor; and
  3. 5 Euros to the 1st floor.

How to get to the top faster?
There are two ways to get to the top of Eiffel Tower Paris without waiting in a queue for the standard ticket booth:

  1. buy a combined bus tour or
  2. dine in one of the restaurants in the tower (Altitude 95 or Jules Verne),

both of which can be expensive. Taking the stairs to the 2nd level will cut wait times. Make sure that you are in the desired line. There is a line for the elevator and a shorter line for the stairs.

Should I go to the top level?
The view from the top of the Eiffel Tower Paris is amazing and worth the wait. Visibility and weather should be considered. In December, it is very foggy and sometimes only the 2nd level is open. During winter months (late September to early April), it can be very cold and windy at the top.

Where are the best places in Paris to view the Eiffel Tower?
The best views of the Eiffel Tower Paris are from a distance. At night, views are even more stunning. Good places to view are: the Trocadero, the Arc de Triumph, the Pantheon, from a boat with a glass roof on the Seine, on the Champs de Mars, and from the Tour Montparnasse. L’Open tour buses provide a view of the tower from all angles.

When is the Eiffel Tower Paris illuminated?
The tower is illuminated with light beams and glimmering lights for ten minutes each hour on the hour from sunset to 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. during the summer.

What else is there to do in the Eiffel Tower?
There are restaurants, snack bars, souvenir shops, exhibits, and restrooms on the various levels of the Eiffel Tower Paris. There is a post office on the 1st level that will stamp post cards bought there or elsewhere with the Eiffel Tower postmark.
