Chunnel crossing Via Eurotunnel and Eurostar

November 13th, 2008 by paris

Since the Channel Tunnel linking Folkstone in Kent UK, to Coquelles, in North of France, was opened for travel in 1994, it has been one of the most popular ways to cross the English chunnel to get to the Continental Europe. Chunnel crossing via train is one of the most popular ways for travelers to usually get from London to Paris in just a matter of couple of hours hours. The usual peak seasons are during spring and summer when tourists and even locals spend their vacation traveling from their home city to another city within Europe by train.

When Chunnel crossing, you must bear in mind the different destinations available via train. The usual routes taken by the Eurotunnel are from Folkstone in Kent UK, to Coquelles (North of Calais France). With Eurostar trains which begin at St Pancras London, destinations include Paris, Avignon, Brussels, Lille, Ski resorts, and Disneyland Paris. For a more detailed comparison of the 2 services, please visit  Channel Tunnel Prices for Eurotunnel vs Eurostar.

Perhaps the most famous train lines would be the Eurostar trains and the Eurotunnel. They offer much cheaper prices and early bird promos, and by booking your tickets online, you get a bigger chance of buying low-cost tickets. Eurotunnel offer rates which cost around £49 pounds per car, and you are allowed to take up to 9 passengers. Chunnel crossing usually take only 35 minutes. The Eurostar trains offer hotel bookings as well during booking your trips. Usually Eurotunnel is much cheaper if you are traveling in a group, for example if you are traveling with 9 people including the driver, then the cheapest fare £49 is divided by 9 , which means it’s only £5.40 per passenger. You can take your pets as well, however you need to pay for their passage on you return to the UK !

I never realized about the great group rate deal offered. I am thankful I came across this blog and this post in particular. I will be traveling this fall with a group of friends, but not in an official organized group fashion where we are made aware of deals to be had, so tips like these are greatly appreciated.
