Paris may be one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world, but it’s also one of the most expensive cities in the world as well. With so much to see and do and buy, staying on a budget is important. Certainly Paris is known for its fine cuisine, but for budgetary reasons, sometimes finding cheap food in Paris is needed too. And, with so much to do, you don’t always want to spend hours on end savoring a meal.
For cheap food in Paris, think about where you’d catch a cheap lunch in North America - McDonald’s. It’s so similar to home, you’ll feel instantly comfortable, with the fast service and low prices that won’t rob you of your last few Euros. Plus, head for the McDonald’s near the top of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and you get great views along with cheap prices!
However, if you’re a stickler for trying to stay native and want to eat where the French eat cheap food in Paris. Along comes Quick to the rescue. The French and Belgium fast food restaurant, Quick, features American style burgers and freedom fries, or you can try menu items you’d never find at a McDonald’s in the States like - a grande assiette nordique, which is a salad with shrimp and salmon, or a roll chevre mozza, that will find your mouth thanking you when you take a bite of this French and Italian cheese wrap. Visit the location on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of a bistro, without the bistro price!
Other ideas for cheap food in Paris include:
- Picnics - Go to the market and purchase some delicious French cheese, a baguette, fruit, and a bottle of wine and you have a scrumptious meal, for much less than you would pay at a restaurant.
- Bakeries (Boulangerie) - Bakeries are perfect places for a cheap breakfast or light lunch.
- Middle Eastern Cuisine - Some of the best food discounts can be found in Paris thanks to the influx of Arabic culture. You’ll not only get delicious food, but on the cheap as well!

One of the best places for food is the bakery just outside the Porte de Clichy tube station. They do superb middle eastern food. The buns stuffed with tuna, boiled egg and olive is especially nice and very cheap. Very friendly service.
The other best Boulangerie (bakery) is at the bottom of montmartre, great long baguettes filled with delicious chicken, egg etc. Longest baguettes I’ve ever eaten. Very cheap. Very friendly service.
Maison de Gyros
There are 2 related Maison de Gyros, inexpensive Greek restaurants in the Latin quarter near Notre Dame. Great for a take away or a sit down meal. Lovely chicken Kebabs, with nice crunchy chips for about 7 euros..
