Channel Tunnel Prices for Eurotunnel vs Eurostar

Eurostar and Eurotunnel are two entirely separate companies. Both use the same channel tunnel (also known as Chunnel tunnel, Euro Tunnel etc..)

Channel Tunnel
Has a 100% safety record.
Eurotunnel quick and easy way to cross the channel, especially if you suffer from seasickness.
channel tunnel very robust and is designed to take huge impacts in the form of explosions or natural disasters like earth quakes.

Fishes cannot be seen while traveling the chunnel tunnel as the tunnel is 45 meters under the seabed.
Mobile phone signals are limited, as they might interfere with the other channel tunnel operational frequencies.

  1. Fares start at £59 return / passenger
  2. Travel time is 2h 35 min, about 4 times slower than Eurotunnel.
  3. Trains run between 5:30 am and 7:30 pm
  4. Only for foot passengers
  5. Cars and pets are not allowed (guide dogs allowed)
  6. Flash Photography and video recording allowed.
  7. From St Pancras (London) to Gare du Nord in North of Paris.
  8. Lovely views, except while you are inside the chunnel tunnel.
  9. Very pleasant atmosphere.
  10. Fairly quite
  11. Similar to a train journey in any European city
  12. Is a high-speed passenger train operator.
  13. Eurostar rents the channel tunnel from Eurotunnel.
  1. Fares start at £49 return / car (maximum 9 passengers allowed !)
  2. A very short journey of 35 minutes. 4 times quicker than Eurostar.
  3. Trains run 24 hours.
  4. Only for accompanied vehicles. Foot passengers are not allowed !
  5. Eurotunnel allows vehicles and pets
  6. Flash photography is not allowed as it would set off fire alarms, but video is OK.
  7. From Folkestone (Kent UK) to Coquelles (North of Calais France).
  8. Carriages have plenty of little windows but no views.
  9. Smelling of petrol fumes

    What a nice side by side comparison. It is good to see all this information that I never really thought much about to compare by. Based upon your chart I think I have officially decided that the Eurostar is for me. Even though it’s slower, I like some of the perks Eurostar offers. Go figure! :-) I guess I just prefer views!
